Clutter or Comfort?

Earlier today, I was reading an interesting post on decluttering by Gloria Hildebrandt, a friend who edits and publishes the wonderful Escarpment Views magazine. You can find her full post at http://www.escarpmentviews.ca/index.php/2011/01/02/200-tips-for-de-cluttering-by-daniela-santos-quartino/.

I have advocated decluttering as an important first step in preparing a home for sale, as well as in making it pleasantly livable. Like Gloria, I do believe that some objects in a room make the room cosy and that too much clutter can make life difficult. One does not have to invest thousands of dollars in creating storage spaces. I believe that the biggest challenge to getting started is related to our objectivity, which items to keep and which to donate or discard. That is where your real estate professional, a stager or organizational specialist can play an important role. Once you get over this first hurdle, the rest should fall into place.
