Home energy savings

High energy and construction costs are negatively impacting families and individuals across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Energy and Electrification Minister Stephen Lecce and the Government of Ontario are launching the Home Renovation Savings Program, coming into effect January 28, 2025. This new program is a win for homeowners, helping to reduce energy bills, while advancing energy efficiency throughout the province.

The Home Renovation Savings Program is part of Ontario’s $10.9 billion investment in energy efficiency and offers rebates of up to 30% for home renovations. Eligible projects include new windows, doors, insulation, smart thermostats, heat pumps, rooftop solar panels, and battery storage systems. Later in 2025, the program will expand to include rebates for energy-efficient appliances such as refrigerators and freezers. This initiative empowers homeowners to invest in upgrades that reduce long-term energy costs and enhance property values.

The program provides homeowners with an opportunity to reduce energy costs while improving their living spaces sustainably. By making energy-efficient upgrades more affordable, it also contributes to broader housing affordability by lowering ongoing utility expenses for families and individuals.
